Mission:
To provide enrichment programs that are appropriate for children with ADHD,
speech/language delays, Learning Disabilities, Asperger’s Syndrome, PDD or
any social and emotional problems.
SNAAC is a
non-sectarian program that provides scholarships and 1:1 assistants.
Approach:
A combination of teamwork, opportunity, and encouragement is all a child
with special needs requires to be successful at SNAAC. With small
classes, in a warm nurturing atmosphere, your child will succeed at those
activities in which she or he wishes to participate. Self-esteem will be
cultivated, creativity will be encouraged and friendships will be developed.
Our staff includes a team of dedicated educators and therapists well known
in their respective fields. These programs are made available
through grants from UJA Federation of NY. OMRDD and Westchester Community
Foundation.

Join us for an all-inclusive which includes Sports, Social Skills, speech,
art, computer, music, theatre. Small groups with individual attention! Groups will be divided by
ability and age.
13-18 Year Old Integrated
Group
Teens with special
needs and teens peer volunteers will meet for 3 hours featuring Sports,
Social Skills, Human Development, Computers, Art, Music and Theatre.
Parents, grandparents and
caretakers group meets once a month on Sundays.

Teens become assistants!

4:00-5:30pm weekly
SIB CONNECTION provides a
therapeutic support group for siblings that have brothers and sisters with
special needs. It gives them the unique opportunity in a confidential group
to:
• To meet other siblings for
peer support
• To have an opportunity to discuss, share, and work through concerns,
problems and feelings with other siblings
• To learn how to handle the many situations experienced by other siblings
like themselves
• To learn that they are not alone. A support group for parents of children
in Sib Connection will be offered once a month. |
Respite Services

Paula Krenkel, a speech and language
pathologist, has developed the Respite Services program to
assist families in finding quality home care for their children
with special needs. She has been a special educator for 35 years
and Director of Speech and Language Services of the Toward
Tomorrow Preschool program
for ten years. Paula has also taught CPR,
FA and life-guarding skills for the American Red Cross for more
than 15 years.
Respite Assistance
is the temporary relief from the constant
responsibilities of caring for a child with special needs. The
goal of Respite Care is to provide families with the time to
meet the needs of other family members; attend to day-to-day
responsibilities and to pursue other interests. Special events
and programs will be offered at the JCC for parents with child
care on site. Parents can access the list of qualified providers
following a brief interview. Fees for home care will be
determined by the families
and care gives. Scholarships are
available.
Respite Training
is offered at the JCC for people
interested in providing Respite Care to families. Workshop
topics include behavior management, developmental disabilities,
setting appropriate goals, creating recreational activities and
American Red Cross CPR and First Aid. All workshops are free to
participants thanks to a grant from the UJA Federation. |
Circle of Friends
Ages 20 -adult
Led by Joyce Pippa B.S.W. (Wednesday) Alyssa Rapko, MSW (Thursday)
These groups provides venues for individuals ages 18 and older who identify
themselves as having special needs, to gather on a regular basis and enrich
their social lives by planning activities based on mutual interest. This is a
wonderful opportunity to create meaningful relationships and have a lot of
fun. They meet twice a month in the evening, either at the JCC or at a local
entertainment center.

Volunteering and Community Service
We offer 12 and
13 year-olds a chance to participate in our Bar/Bat Mitzvah project by doing
volunteer work on Sunday/ Funday. In addition, high school students
volunteer for their community service requirements. All volunteers receive
full training by our staff.
Matan at the JCC - The
Gift of Jewish Learning for Every Child
MATAN is an organization that was created to ensure that all Jewish children,
including those with special learning needs,
can be participating members of Jewish educational
programs. With Jewish educators, special educators, and educational
consultants and administrators, MATAN offers self-contained religious school
classes meeting once a week, in addition to family Jewish holiday
celebrations and programs. For information on Jewish
religious school classes being offered at the JCC for children ages 4-15 on
Sundays and weekday afternoons, see

Matan at the JCC
5-16 years
Matan offers self-contained Jewish religious school classes meeting once a week. Children
with special needs experience the cultural aspects of Judaism in a community
of peers: holidays, Bible stories, Hebrew prayer, and Jewish values are
taught in a multi-modal fashion, incorporating stories, songs, crafts and
games.
Classes follow the school year and run from
mid-September through the end of May. Class size limited to 8 students.
MATAN
can be combined with Sunday Funday. If you are

Jewish Holiday
Celebrations for Special Needs Children and Their Families (MATAN)
MATAN offers Jewish
holiday celebrations in a structured and supervised low-key environment,
which takes into account children’s special needs. These programs are both
educational and fun for the whole family. If you’re interested in receiving

annual Chanukah Program in December.

Sports or Gymnastics Birthday
Parties for Children with Special Needs
3-10 years; must be 4 years old for gymnastics
Sundays, 2:00-3:30pm
Sports parties will also be offered on Saturdays,
3:00-4:30pm
$415/members for 12 children
$25.00 additional fee per child for 15 children
Participate in a sports or gymnastics
party geared to your child’s ability. Food (must be kosher) and party favors
not included. Registration fee required.

About the Director, Charley Moskowitz,
LMSW
Charley Moskowitz has worked for the past twelve years as a Social Worker for children with
special needs. Earning her M.S.W. from Fordham University, she went on to work with in Pediatric HIV, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (S.I.D.S.), Pediatric
Hospice, Maternal Child Health and developmentally delayed and special needs preschoolers at Towards Tomorrow. Also the Director of Special
Services-Enrichment Program at the JCC of Mid-Westchester, she has gained the reputation of a dedicated educator. In her spare time Charley Moskowitz has a
private practice for children and their families. She has and continues to participate in the development of higher learning through the supervision and
mentoring of graduate students.
