   Group Fitness Class Schedule


The JCC's Group Fitness program provides a variety of classes for all fitness levels. All of our instructors are certified and knowledgeable - responding to the fitness needs and level of each participant.

  • Staff and class schedule are subject to change.

  • No class on the following date: Friday, July 4, 2008.  All Friday classes are due 1 make-up class.

  • If you are making up a class please call ext. 326 to see if the class of your choice is available.

  • No one will be admitted to class 10 minutes after class starts.

Class Descriptions

Cardiovascular

Aerobic Dancing 
This class consists of a series of uninterrupted choreographed routines, which help strengthen your cardiovascular system. No dance experience required. All levels welcome.

Cycling
This high intensity cycle workout will improve your cardiovascular system and enhance muscular endurance.  This workout can be individualized to almost every fitness level.

Cardio/Sculpt
This class consists of 8-10 minute warm-up, 20-25 minutes of low or multi impact aerobics, followed by light weights for body sculpting, and 3-5 minutes of stretch/cool down. Intermediate.

Step
This high energy, low impact class involves the use of a step platform. The adjustable step allows an individual to customize
the workout intensity. Appropriate for most fitness levels. 

(Super Set) Cardio Conditioning
This class consists of a warm-up, 35-40 minutes of multi-level aerobics, 30 minutes of super set strength training, cool down
and stretch. Intermediate to advanced. 


Body Conditioning

Body Sculpt

This class includes a total body warm-up, followed by strength training phase, and a relaxing flexibility segment.  All levels welcome.

Sculpt & Step
This class consists of a 5-10 minute warm-up on a step board, followed by an interval session consisting of a step workout intermingled with strength work.  
All levels welcome. 

Stretch & Strengthen
This very popular class consists primarily of floor work on a mat with no music.  The exercises will strengthen and stretch all major muscle groups.  Alignment of the spine and healthy posture are other goals of this class.  Appropriate for all levels.

Power Sculpt
This class is similar to body sculpt but more repetitions are incorporated.  Heavier weights can be used.  Intermediate.

Corepole NEW!
This class uses one of the newest pieces of equipment in the fitness field for a group setting. The class participants work from a stationary central pole which holds resistance bands that can be utilized to strengthen all the major muscle groups while utilizing the important core muscles to successfully complete the given exercises.

Functional Conditioning
This class consists of exercises to stretch, strengthen and align your muscles while presenting a major challenge to the core and abdominal area.

Specialty

Zumba Fitness  NEW!
Zumba uses Latin-inspired music and moves to create a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness system. This unique and very “hot” class is guaranteed to keep your fitness levels elevated. All participants are guaranteed a work-out session that is pure fun. ALL LEVELS WELCOME

Mind & Body

Tai Chi
A gentle meditative exercise widely practiced for its health benefits.  All levels welcome.

A-I Stretch - All levels
This class focuses on “Assisted-Isolated” stretching. This unique flexibility system utilizes a long nylon band to assist the stretched muscle while isolating it from the surrounding muscles. 

Pilates (Mat)  - Intermediate to Advanced.
This class consists of a series of controlled movements designed to build strength, increase flexibility, and improve posture. 

Yoga - All levels
This class emphasizes the mind and body connection. It will teach you the foundations of yoga stretches, with a strong
component on alignment, flexibility, and breathing techniques. 

Yoga Stretch - All levels
A gentle Yoga-based class with extra stretching component. For beginner level students and students with particular limitations.

Vinyasa Yoga  NEW!
This session consists of a more vigorous style of yoga that combines conscious breathing with a progressive series of flowing postures.

Staff and class schedule are subject to change during the term.

* These classes are open to any Fitness or Health Center member, no registration needed
